Essential Duties
Primary Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities (TDR):
Fundraising Strategy: Develop and implement annual and multi-year fundraising plans to meet established revenue goals.
Donor Cultivation: Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of major individual donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations.
Team Leadership: Hire, train, and mentor development staff, overseeing daily operations and professional growth.
Grant Management: Oversee the research, proposal writing, and compliance reporting for institutional and government grants.
Special Events: Plan and execute fundraising events, galas, and campaigns to boost community engagement and revenue.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with the executive team, marketing department, and the Board of Directors to align fundraising with the organization's broader mission.
Operations & Reporting: Ensure CRM/database integrity, track key performance metrics, and provide regular financial forecasts to the Board of Directors or Executive Director.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) Typically Required:
Ability to develop policies and procedures; manage projects and contracts; create cost projections; maintain accurate records; analyze data and prepare clear reports; manage budgets and expenditures; proficient use of personal computers, data systems, office software, and department-specific applications.
Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with officials, staff, volunteers, contractors, vendors, professional organizations, and the public; excellent verbal, written, training, and presentation skills; strong customer service, tact, and courtesy.
Strong judgment, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities; able to make sound decisions under routine and emergency conditions; capable of managing multiple tasks and weighing competing priorities; able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Supervisory; able to train, direct, coordinate, and motivate volunteers, temporary staff, interns, and others engaged in volunteer work; able to lead special projects and cross-functional activities.
Minimum Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Communications, or a related field. (Advanced degrees or a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential are often preferred); OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Experience in working with school-aged youth is a plus, but not required.
